Executive Director Search

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra is seeking an innovative and collaborative Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of artistic excellence, community engagement, and organizational growth.

The Executive Director will lead our professional orchestra that serves residents of LaPorte County Indiana and nearby areas, including Southwest Michigan. Entering its 54th season, the LCSO has evolved from a small community orchestra into a professional ensemble of 60 musicians performing for audiences across seven counties.


A dynamic Executive Director will be chosen to advance the symphony’s mission through strategic leadership, fundraising and financial stewardship, marketing, community engagement, and operational excellence. The Executive Director will foster a collaborative culture, build strong relationships with patrons, musicians, volunteers, community leaders, and business partners, while ensuring the long-term success of the organization.

Strong candidates will possess

  • Proven nonprofit leadership experience, preferably within arts, cultural, educational, or community-based organizations.
  • Strategic thinking and planning capabilities, with the ability to translate vision into measurable results.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising initiatives ranging from annual campaigns and corporate sponsorships, to special events and donor stewardship programs.
  • Financial management expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, and organizational stewardship.
  • A collaborative leadership style that builds trust, engages stakeholders, and empowers teams.
  • Strong community credibility and the ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with donors, business leaders, civic organizations, and community partners.
  • A passion for the performing arts and a commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
