Mary Steck

Mary Steck has been playing oboe in the LCSO for thirty-two years and has enjoyed having music be a large part of her life. Mary has been involved in many professional music organizations and what she treasures most from these experiences is being able to connect with her family through music.

Mary has performed professionally with organizations such as the LaPorte City Band, Michigan City Municipal Band, Windiana Concert Band, Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra, and the Michigan City Messiah Orchestra and is also a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church Choir. In addition to performing, Mary currently has a small oboe studio with students from the surrounding schools in the area.

Mary is married to Charles Steck, who is also a member of the LCSO and they have two sons, Andrew (Mackenzie) and Matthew. In her free time, Mary likes to go boating on LaPorte’s lakes and spend time with family and friends. She also runs an eBay business where she sells online collectibles. What Mary enjoys most about being a part of the LCSO is having the opportunity to forge lifelong friendships through music.
