Helene Dauerty currently plays bass trombone for the LCSO and is a very dedicated musician. Helene earned her Masters of Music from Northwestern University and completed her doctoral coursework at IU-Bloomington. She also studied early trombone performance in Europe and at the Amherst Early Music Festival.
Helene has also shared her talents with other organizations and performs regularly as a professional musician. She plays bass trombone in the South Bend Symphony Orchestra and has held positions with the Spoleto Festival USA and the Ohio Light Opera. Helene has also substituted for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.
Aside from performing, Helene also teaches physics at Elkhart Central High School. Her husband also shares her passion for music and is a full-time musician, serving as principal bass in the South Bend Symphony Orchestra.
