Drayton Family Children's Education Concert
The LCSO wishes to thank our sponsors who made this Video and Educator Guide possible: Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation, Unity Foundation of La Porte County, General Insurance Services, Inc., David & Dr. Linda Sirugo and the La Porte Chapter of Psi Iota Xi.
The LCSO wishes to thank Megan Sullivan, Director of Bands at LaPorte Middle School, for the creation of this Education Guide.
Now in our 32nd year of presenting Music Education to the students of the Northwest Indiana and SW Michigan region, this year has been especially challenging. With the advent of COVID-19, our programming has taken an alternate path as an online resource for the educators. We sincerely hope that this guide, along with the audio/video presentation created by Rick DeJonge that can be accessed on our website, will give educators and students a resource that can be used in a variety of ways.
The LCSO would also like to thank Interim Music Director, Chuck Steck, for his leadership during this extraordinary time. The LCSO is looking forward to the next school year where we may be able to hold our live performances once again for the students and educators!
Lastly we would like to thank Michael Drayton and the staff of Drayton, Biege, Sirugo, & Elliott for their incredible service of contacting schools, collating education guides, taking reservations and handling all of the seating for our annual Children’s Concerts. For 31 years, these wonderful people have been giving of their time and talent to enable the success of our Children’s Concerts!
Each year, LCSO presents a day of three back-to-back Children’s Educational Concerts each year for 6000+ students from La Porte Community Schools and surrounding area school corporations, senior living centers, and agencies working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. The excellence of LCSO’s educational outreach is significant for the area and the Children’s Education Concert has been recognized as one of the most successful children’s concerts in the nation by the American String Teacher’s Association and the National School Orchestra Association.
